NST MERUJUK KENYATAAN KETUA KITA SELANGOR: BERMUFAKTLAH UNTUK PARTI.

PUTRAJAYA: Kita president Datuk Zaid Ibrahim should not dissolve the party without consulting its leaders and members.

Kita Selangor chief Azmi Othman said the party belonged to all members and not Zaid alone.

"Zaid must discuss the matter first with party leaders. He cannot make a decision and expect everyone to follow without questioning."

Kita Kedah chairman Zamil Ibrahim accused Zaid of being a leader without principle.

"Zaid should step down as Kita president if he can no longer manage the party.   He must think about party members first.

"In Kedah, I have chosen 18 candidates for the next general election and they have started campaigning. So what would happen to them now?" asked  Zamil.

On Thursday, Zaid announced on the party's website that an extraordinary general meeting would be held soon to dissolve Kita.

Kita was formed in December 2010, after Zaid took over the leadership of Kelantan-based Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia and turned it into Kita, touted as the party that supports moderate and progressive ideas and brings civility and decorum to the political discourse of the country.
