SELAH SELAH DI CELAH GELEGAR: SETIAUSAHA PUSAT KITA DAN ZAMIL IBRAHIM.

Kedah Kita branch chief comes under fire

Zamil Ibrahim has no authority to appoint candidates for the coming general election, says Kita.
PETALING JAYA: Kita today hit out at its Kedah branch chairman Zamil Ibrahim for making a “misleading” statement about the appointment of Kita candidates for the coming general election.
Its central secretary Masrum Dayat said that only the party’s selection committee can decide on the choice of candidates if Kita were to contest the national polls.
“The committee is chaired by the party chief who will eventually give out the appointment letter to the selected candidates.
“No one can contest under the party’s banner without the appointment letter,” he said.
Masrum was commenting on a FMT report yesterday quoting Zamil as saying that Kita would be contesting in 18 seats in Kedah in the 13th general election.
However, Kita president Zaid Ibrahim has announced that the party would be disbanded soon, which angered Zamil.
“What is going to happen to my 18 candidates who are preparing? What about their faces which have been put on Hari Raya banners (in Kedah)? They have dignity, too!” Zamil was quoted as saying.
Masrum said that Zamil has gone overboard with his “misleading” statement, adding that he has exceeded his authority as the Kedah branch chairman.
He added that Kita does not recognise the candidates chosen by Zamil.
